Brooklyn: backyards, rooftops and stoops
Brooklyn parties happen in tight, creative spaces. Brownstone backyards in Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill and Fort Greene usually have room for one compact cart, and a soft serve cart or cotton candy cart fits beautifully. Rooftops and building amenity decks in newer buildings are popular too, along with community rooms for indoor celebrations.
Further south, neighborhoods like Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Marine Park and Ditmas Park have more driveways and detached homes. Prospect Park and Marine Park host plenty of group picnics, with rules set by the city's parks department, so check what's allowed before you plan food there.
Queens: every kind of party
Queens covers a lot of ground. Astoria, Long Island City and Jackson Heights mix apartment buildings, rooftop decks and courtyards, while Forest Hills, Bayside, Whitestone and Howard Beach have backyards and driveways where carts and even a Fry Bar can fit. Big parks like Flushing Meadows Corona Park and Astoria Park are favorite gathering places in summer.
Apartment-building and co-op community rooms are a great fit for an indoor party. Building rules on deliveries and elevators apply, so check with management first.
Block party food carts in the city
Block parties are a summer tradition across all three boroughs. A popcorn cart, slush cart and soft serve cart keep a whole street happy for the afternoon, and a Live Oven Pizza station turns a block party into a real meal. Street closures and permits go through the city and are the organizer's responsibility, so check the city's street-event permit rules early and share your approved times with us. Our block party food carts page has more ideas.
Staten Island: suburban yards and summer parties
Staten Island feels more like the suburbs, especially on the South Shore in neighborhoods like Tottenville, Great Kills, Annadale and Eltingville. Bigger yards and driveways mean room for a pizza oven and a couple of carts, and pool parties are common in summer. Clove Lakes Park and Conference House Park are popular spots for outdoor gatherings.

Parking, loading and access in the city
City logistics matter. Tell us where our vehicle can pull up to unload, whether there are stoop stairs, a narrow side alley or a walk-through hallway to the backyard, and whether your rooftop has a freight elevator. Most carts plug into a standard outdoor outlet; we'll confirm power, space and access for your exact setup before the day.
